Very curious! An important experience for us to have which surely points to a terrible danger of possibility. Carbon nanotubes, as far as we know, can not be digested by most organisms and until we find which or IF any do they could forever travel around the food chain like a poison and will require OTHER nanotechnology to rescue. Seems to be the crux of technology, we're always having to create the next model to clean up the problems of the last.

A great article and I'm glad it was published. Unfortunately the scope of the experiment is quite small and the actuality of supposed dangers from carbon nanotubes has yet to be fully understood. My simple logic is this: any particles (which the body dispose of) entering the body are going to cause damage either through direct destruction or disruption of other systems (much like cholestorol) This is simple logic even I determined to be true before I did the majority of my nano-technology research. It's only logical to say that nano-particles like carbon nanotubes, entering the body could be difficult to get out. The study was far from conclusive not only because they stopped after a week (wtf?) and because it was somehow unrealistic in terms of reality. It's very possible the lungs or other parts of the respiratory system would take care of the particle long before I got to the outer walls. Anyone heard of sneezing?? Anyways, I'd say it's great to see an article talking about the risks of such technology and perhaps as time goes on we can see more articles based on more substantial studies.

Oh, the fact that the study ended after a week was actually only reported in the CBC article on the same study. Found here

This is really the best video footage of nano-scale operations that I've seen. None of this is theoretical--it's REAL! Explanations from various scientists. THE Video to watch if you know nothing about nanotechnology or are simply curious about what it might lead to. Five Star Rating.

What you don't know can't hurt you--or can it? Nanoparticles have invaded your environment and body.

♦ From the page: "While polls show most Americans know little or nothing about nanotechnology, in 2006 nanotechnology was incorporated into more than $50 billion in manufactured goods. By 2014, Lux Research estimates $2.6 trillion in manufactured goods will incorporate nanotechnologyâ€"or about 15 percent of total global output. Despite a 2006 worldwide investment of $12.4 billion in nanotech R&D, comparatively little was spent on examining nanotechnologyâ€s potential environmental, health and safety risks."

Science will soon allow us to take advantage of the nanoscopic features of flora and fauna. A robot has been made that mimics a gecko's sticky toes and soon perhaps something that can secret nanoparticles as Ivy does.
